2024 SKILLS ASSESSMENT DAY
Info on our upcoming Skills Assessment Day for 2024 spring baseball season
WHAT: Skills Assessment Day (THIS IS NOT FOR EVERYONE WHO IS REGISTERED- SEE BELOW)
WHEN: March 9, 2024
WHO: Rookies: 9-10:00, Majors: 10-11:30 Read below carefully about who should attend
1. All NEW players to Newt regardless of Rookie or Major
AND
2. Rookies who played last year who will be moving to Majors (attend Majors time). If you're unsure if your Rookie will be moving up, please attend if possible or contact us ASAP. Rookie is coach pitch and is generally 5-7/8 year olds. Majors is 8/9-12 year olds. If there is a question by the board about safety of younger kids moving up to Majors we will talk with parents about that as safety is our number one priority. Please be sure to tell your child that they might be with Rookies again.
WHY: To assess the skills of new players or those moving up to the Majors
WHAT TO BRING: a glove (we will bring a few extra), a water bottle, batting helmet if you have one, wear sneakers
WHERE: Turners Falls High School GYM 222 Turnpike Rd, Montague, MA Park to the left of the building, go in the blue door on the side of the building, up the stairs on the right and into the gym on the 2nd floor. Please contact us ahead of time if you need to access the elevator.
PLEASE LET YOUR KIDS KNOW THAT THESE ARE THE THINGS THEY WILL BE ASSESSED ON:
TEAM MANAGERS WILL BE EVALUATING FIELDING, THROWING, BATTING AND OVERALL ATHLETICISM. PLAYERS WILL BE EXPECTED TO FIELD 5 FLY BALLS, 5 GROUND BALLS, AND RETURN THROWS ACCORDINGLY. THERE WILL ALSO BE 5 AT-BAT OPPORTUNITIES FROM A MODIFIED PITCH.
If you cannot attend this event, please let us know as soon as possible.
YOU MAY NOT DROP OFF YOUR CHILD. FAMILIES MUST ATTEND WITH THEIR CHILD.
